Frequently Asked Questions
Do
you have vacation time per year?
No, we do
not. Our costs are based on a 52 week year, with staffing accordingly,
thus whether you are at CYC or not, our costs are ongoing.
Can I
sign up for less than a week?
No, we
only accept full time enrollment. Again, cost and income are based on
a 52 week year, and our staff are paid the same whether they have a
full class or a partial class. It is not cost effective for us to take
part time children, when we can fill the classes with full time
enrollee’s. Whether a child is at the center for 1 day or 5, the full
week’s fee is applicable. The only deviation from this is if a child
is not at the center at all during a given week, then ˝ the weekly fee
is payable. Quincy has a different policy, and Director
should be contacted for specifics.
Why do
I pay a late fee when I pick my child up after 6 pm?
The late
fee is charged because our staff costs go into overtime, and your
weekly fee’s only cover care between 6 am and 6 pm (Waterloo), and
between 6:30 am and 5:30 pm (Quincy). However after 10
hours a day, you pay an additional $25 per week at the Waterloo
facility. At the Quincy facility, after 10 hours a day, add $3.00
per hour/per child. (The 10 hour policy does not
have anything to do with late pick up.) Late pick up is for any child
picked up after 5:30pm (Quincy) / 6pm (Waterloo), regardless of reasons.
What
do my fees cover?
Your fees
cover child care, and based on comparables to the local area, our fees
are right at or competitive to the local child care fees charged. Fees
offset staff salaries, taxes, supplies, utilities, general liability,
accounting fees, maintenance, repairs, various forms of replacement
(toys, equipment, etc.), food, advertising, mortgage payments,
telephone, etc.
What
weekly rates of increase may I expect to pay?
Weekly
child care rates may/could change in January of each year. Our rate of increase
has generally been between $2 and $9 annually.
Do I
get less for being charged less?
Definitely Not! We will put our centers up against any center in the
metro area, and feel we operate at the top level of child care
provided, regardless of fees being “cheaper”. You may pay less, but
you get so much more!
Do you
close the center when school is closed due to inclement weather?
We only
close if everything was closing. (We are normally open when the
schools are closed for inclement weather.) We do have a policy about
closing early if the weather is getting increasingly worse. In the
event of bad weather, please call the center for more information.
